Even though he didn't practice all week with an ankle injury, Lamar Jackson is still expected to start for the Ravens against the Packers.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said after Friday's practice that Jackson has a chance of playing on Sunday. If he starts feeling better, we'll check him out prior to the game. If not, we've got Tyler and he'll be ready to go as well.
Jackson has never missed a game because of injury in his four years in the league, a streak which has never been more in jeopardy than now. This was the first time that Jackson had an injury that kept him out of practice. He was not able to participate Friday.
Harbaugh said that Jackson's ankle is not a major injury. The injury report will be released Friday afternoon.
Josh Johnson would become the primary backup if Jackson can't play, and Huntley would make his second career start. When Jackson was ill, Huntley took over and led a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to help Baltimore win at Chicago 16-13 four weeks ago. The Ravens were down by 21 points in Cleveland on Sunday.
Huntley has been on the first team all week.
Huntley said it put him on a good track.
Jackson has only missed three games in his career, missing two due to illness and missing the season finale after Baltimore had already secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
He has been listed as questionable three times this season. Jackson had an illness in Week 3 and a sore back in Week 4, but he played both times. He was added to the injury report a day before the game against the Bears and was a game-day scratch.
Jackson was in the midst of the worst slump of his career before the ankle injury. Jackson has lost three of his last four starts, throwing six picks.
Jackson injured his ankle in the second quarter of the Cleveland game when he was hit by Owosu- Koramoah after a pass. Jackson has been contacted 16 times this season, the most by a quarterback in a single season in the last 15 years.
If Jackson plays on Sunday, he would line up behind an offensive line that has allowed a league-high 47 sacks this season and has had three starters miss at least one practice this week. Harbaugh previously said that the decision on whether to play or rest Jackson against Green Bay wouldn't be affected by the fact that Baltimore plays at the Cincinnati Bengals next week.
The Ravens are 6.5-point favorites over the Packers. In the last six years, Baltimore has been a big home favorite.
