Sources told Adrian Wojnarowski that the Nets are bringing back All-Star guard Kyrie Irving as a part-time player for games outside of New York.
Sources said the team moved because of the unfolding circumstances of Brooklyn's season, which included injuries, players lost to health and safety protocols and an inordinate minutes load on their superstars.
The turbulence of the NBA season has caused the organization to rethink their preseason decision to sideline Irving, sources said.
Sources said that the Nets and Irving agreed on a plan that would allow him to return to play after he recovered from his injury.
The Nets play their next game in Portland on December 23, followed by a Christmas Day game at the Los Angeles Lakers and a game at the LA Clippers on December 27. Three more home games follow that stretch.
Nets owner Joe Tsai, general manager Sean Marks, coach Steve Nash, and key players were all in favor of the idea and Irving was eager to return to play in away games. Irving can start practicing.
