'S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2' won't include NFTs following fan uproar

The developer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 has decided to back off on plans to include non-fungible token in its new game. The studio said S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 would include NFTs.

GSC Game World deleted an explanation for the decision where it said it would use the money it earned from the token to fund the sequel. Fans were quick to criticize the initial announcement and later statement from the studio. The GSC Game World deleted its appeal about an hour after it was posted.

Its latest statement reads, "We hear you." The feedback we received led us to cancel anything related to NFT in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2. The studio said it would make the game at its own cost.

GSC Game World changed its mind about the plan to include NFTs in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. While video game fans are almost universally opposed to the technology, publishers are trying to include NFTs in their games with people like Andrew Wilson saying the technology represents the future of our industry.
