The surge of COVID-19 infections in the NFL has caused point spreads to move dramatically, causing some sportsbooks to stop betting on the games.

The Los Angeles Rams, Washington Football Team and Cleveland Browns each had more than a dozen players on the reserve list.

Washington starting quarterback Taylor Heinicke and backup Kyle Allen are also in COVID protocols. The betting market was trying to quantify the changes that could be caused by third-stringers and players just signed to the roster.

The Las Vegas Raiders were 3.5-point favorites over the Cleveland Indians.

Washington was a 2.5 point favorite over the Philadelphia Eagles. The line grew to Eagles -12 on Friday.

Line movement of more than four points is rare in the NFL. More changes are likely.

If the league's updated requirements are met, players can return from the COVID lists sooner.

It adds to the challenge faced by sportsbooks and has caused some to take games off the board entirely. The Raiders-Browns, WFT-Eagles and Seahawks-Rams games were temporarily stopped by Caesars Sportsbook.

The amount bet on the football game was the same as previous weeks, if not a little more. PointsBet has been experiencing a rush of bets when players are added to the list.

Raiders-Browns was the second most heavily bet game.
