Switzerland relaxes testing requirements for those vaccinated

From Monday, December 20th, Switzerland will allow rapid antigen tests as proof of Covid status for those fully vaccined.

The testing regime will be adjusted by the Federal Council today. France banned UK visitors without a compelling reason from entering.

Visitors to Switzerland must take rapid antigen tests within the previous 24 hours if they want to take a PCR test.

The requirement to take a second test four-seven days after entering the country will be nixed for those who have recovered from COVID-19.

Children under the age of 16 are exempt from testing, but only if it's a PCR test. The Covid Pass is accepted by Switzerland.

Stricter measures will be introduced in Switzerland.

Only people who have recovered from Covid-19 will be allowed to go inside restaurants, cultural, sporting and leisure venues.

Food and drink can only be consumed while seated in these settings, and masks must be worn.

In settings where masks cannot be worn, or where it is not possible to eat or drink while seated, admission will be limited to vaccine or recovered people who also present a negative test result.

People who have received a booster jab or have recovered from Covid-19 do not need to take a further test.

A requirement to work from home has been reintroduced in Switzerland.

Private gatherings are limited to 10 people if one person from the age of 16 is unvaccinated or has not previously had Covid-19.

The Federal Council said in a statement that the situation is very worrying and that the critical threshold of 300 Covid-19 patients in the intensive care units of Switzerland was exceeded for the first time on December 13.
