A ticket from Michael Jordan's NBA debut sold for a record-setting $264,000 on Friday.

The first modern World Series featuring the Boston was played in 1903 and the ticket that was graded a 6-out-of- 10 by Professional Sports Authenticator broke the previous $175,000 record for a collectible sports ticket.

Jordan, the third overall pick in the 1984 NBA draft, had 16 points, seven assists, six rebounds, four blocks and two steals in 40 minutes to help the Bulls score a109-93 win over the Bullets.

The Chicago Stadium that was demolished in 1995 had a sellout capacity of 17,374.

Jordan went on to become the greatest basketball player of all time with a resume that includes six NBA titles, five Most Valuable Player Awards, 14 All-Star selections, and numerous other team and individual awards.

The rise in prices of sports collectibles has been correlated with an increase in interest in sports collectibles, especially for items associated with all-time greats like Jordan and Tom Brady.

The hobby has changed a lot since the days of people putting cards in the spikes of their bikes.

As high-end cards became more expensive and scarce, other items like vintage ticket stubs have started to see their values increase as well.

It's no surprise that a Jordan ticket is the top ticket.
