All I want for Christmas is a soccer club's festive sweater

Soccer clubs are still selling branded merchandise for the holiday season, with just a week left until Christmas Day.

The Christmas sweater is a must have for any fan who is going to show their team's colors over the festive period.

All of the top clubs are happy to oblige, with Yuletide knitwear becoming an annual fixture in their online stores.

There are many approaches taken to the designs, from subtly incorporating the club crest into a traditional pattern to Santa Claus being co-opted as a supporter. An Italian team has been playing in a Christmas-themed kit for a few years now, while a club in the premier league has released a festive Hawaiian shirt.

We looked at some of the official knitwear on offer from clubs in the top leagues.

LaLiga, MLS, FA Cup, more are included in the guide.

AC Milan.

The Zlatan Ibrahimovic seal of approval can be found on the Rossoneri's turtleneck sweater.

It's called theArsenal.

When the "bruised banana" pattern is popular, the Gunners don't need to come up with a new design every Christmas. They have a summer signing to model it.

AS Roma.

It's not that magic a Christmas, but we would love to see Jose Mourinho forced to model a sweater like a grumpy old Grinch.

The city of Barcelona.

The fair Isle-patterned sleeves on his hat and the integrated bobble on his sweater are putting the smile on his face, but it's not enough.

It's called the Bavarian city of Bayern Munich.

The 2020 Christmas sweater of the club featured built-in light and "crowd roar" sound effects, as well as 3D snowballs. It must have come as a relief to the three of them that this year's offering is a traditional design.

There is a football team called Borussia Dortmund.

Emre Can is doing his best to sell it, but it looks as if it was put together using Microsoft Paint circa 1999.

It's called the Chelsea.

This sweater is hardly a sweater for the reigning European champion, made all the worse by the kind of groan-inducing pun usually found in the very cheapest of Christmas crackers.

The Crystal Palace.

Palace's sweater depicts an impressive scene as Santa and his reindeer fly high above theHolmesdale stand at Selhurst Park.

Inter Milan.

Inter's blue-and-black checkerboard sweater is great for winter because it's nice enough to be worn all winter. The shield of the reigning Serie A champion is in the center of the chest.

It's the Italian club, Juventus.

The periodic table is reminiscent of "Breaking Bad" and the checkerboard look is also used by the Bianconeri.

The United States of America has a team called Leeds United.

While Hawaiian shirts aren't typically suited to the Yorkshire climate come deep December, we have to commend Leeds for coming at their Christmas range from a unique angle. Mele Kalikimaka!

It'sLiverpool.

The sweater that the club released last year has the same crest and motto as this year, with a scattering of snowflakes.

Manchester City.

City's Christmas sweater is a bright sky-blue number festooned with baubles that Khadija Shaw appears delighted to be wearing.

Manchester United.

We won't believe it until St. Nick gets his own statue outside of Old Trafford.

The city of Norwich.

The Canaries' sweater is bright green and yellow and is nicer than it sounds. Josh seems happy to be modelling.

New York City FC is a soccer team.

NYCFC have a very busy design with the club crests, candy canes, and snowflakes all fighting for space within the argyle pattern.

Paris Saint-Germain.

There are a couple of different options for fans to choose from. The "Snowman Ultra" design will put you off your Christmas turkey, but the Ligue 1 side have produced a genuinely chic, tartan-tinged effort. The icing glows in the dark when put on the cake.

The company is called RB Leipzig.

Tyler Adams seems to be enjoying the sweater that Leipzig have created.

Real Madrid.

The design has been thrown at it by Los Blancos. A huge club crest is surrounded by a Fair Isle pattern with all kinds of elements, and the sweater even wishes the wearer a blanca navidad.

It's Southampton.

Santa has his own squad number at St Mary's, which is one step further than Man United's claim that he is a celebrity fan.

Spurs

If Nuno Espirito Santo could have held on for a little longer, his lustrous beard would have graced Spurs' knitwear this Christmas.

US Cremonese is an honorable mention as the Italian club have made a habit of going above and beyond in the festive clothing stakes.

They wore a full Christmas sweater-themed kit during their 3-2 win over Crotone last week.

The goalkeeper strip is green in the club's limited edition Christmas kit.

Cremonese have released a Christmas jersey for the fifth year in a row, with proceeds going to charity.

The most wonderful time of the year is at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.
