UCLA vs. UNC Men's Basketball in CBS Sports Classic Canceled Because of COVID-19

The CBS Sports Classic men's basketball game between UCLA and North Carolina has been canceled because of issues within the Bruins program.

The statement was posted on the social networking site.

Ohio State canceled its CBS Sports Classic game against Kentucky on Thursday because of positive COVID-19 tests, and UCLA decided to call off its game on Saturday.

With neither UCLA nor Ohio State able to play, an adjustment has been made that will allow UNC and Kentucky to play.

The plan is for North Carolina and Kentucky to play each other at 5:30 p.m., according to Matt Norlander of CBS Sports. On Saturday in Las Vegas.

Before the North Carolina vs. Kentucky game was decided, UNLV and Northwestern were considered replacements.

The highest ranked team in the field will not be playing in the CBS Sports Classic.

The Bruins are off to a great start this season, with their only loss coming against the No. 1 team in the world. 1 Gonzaga. UCLA made a surprise appearance in the Final Four last season and is ranked fourth in the nation.

The Bruins would have been favored against a UNC team that is off to a good start in the first season under coach Hubert Davis.

The Kentucky team is ranked 21st in the nation and has a 7-2 record.

The Tar Heels and the Cats have both won six NCAA tournament titles, which is the most in college basketball history.

UCLA is pausing its basketball activities while it waits to see if the Cal Poly game will be played.
