iOS 15.3 Beta Leaks With Only Minor Changes as Apple Prepares for More Feature-Packed Updates in the Spring

The next major update of the iPad and iPhone is likely to be focused on bug fixes, performance improvements, and security enhancements, rather than larger features, according to a leaked version of the upcoming iOS and iPadOS 15.3 update.

There are only a few changes to the wording regarding Child Safety in the build of the iOS 15.3 beta obtained by MacRumors. This is the first of several, and it does indicate that the upcoming update is likely to be a more minor update than what some may be hoping for.

The increase in devices on the platform can be seen in the data from MacRumors. The same analytics show a consistent pattern of visits from devices running the same operating system. The latter could be a more significant update, with more front-end users changes than what is expected in the next version of the operating system.

Universal Control is one feature that many have kept an eye out for. The feature was first demoed at the WWDC in June. Universal Control hasn't appeared for developers or public beta testers.

The macOS Monterey 12.2 was restarted by Apple yesterday. Universal Control is not included in the leaked build of iPadOS 15.3 and neither is the upcoming macOS update, which is expected to add the feature.

Universal Control is one of two features that were announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The ability for users to add their ID cards and driver's license to the Wallet app in participating states will be available in early 2022.

The new Notification Summary, App Privacy Reports, and more are included in the newly released iPadOS 15.2.
