LG refreshes its pricey Pro OLED monitors for 2022 and adds a 27-inch option

The UltraFine OLED Pro monitors will be the follow-up to the UltraFine monitor that was added to the lineup in 2021. The first effort was only available as a 31.5-inch 4K monitor, but next year it will include a 27-inch version.

These screens aren't meant for gaming or even TV and movie watching, they're just for entertainment. If you are editing photos or video, the DisplayHDR 400 True Black technology will ensure that everything looks the way it should. They will also ship with a software that adjusts their settings for the environment. The port selections are similar to those in the 2021 edition.

It will be hard to find accurate reproduction on any consumer display if the monitors are able to show 99 percent of the DCI-P3 and AdobeRGB colors. We would expect the refresh rate to be set at 60Hz. It is not intended for use in daytime lit environments or fast- moving action, but you could buy a screen like this and use it for gaming.

Even with local dimming, the Apple Pro Display XDR won't be as bright as the UltraFine displays, or the $4,999 optional stand. While Apple's monitor can run with the best full-array local dimming LCDs I've ever seen, it's still a local dimming LCD, and sometimes it blooms, and sometimes all of the dimming zones are lit up, and blacks. Things will be different with these screens.

They should start shipping next month in key markets. If you can't wait for the updated versions, the smaller monitor will be a bit cheaper than last year's, but if you can't wait, it's available from B&H.
