A Proud Boys Supporter Was Sentenced To Almost Three Years In Prison For Threatening To Kill A Senator

The man who applied to join the Proud Boys was sentenced to 33 months in prison for threatening the life of a senator-elect.

The threats against elected officials were issued by the man using the social media app Parler.

"Warnock is going to have a hard time casting votes for communist policies when he's swinging with the fish," wrote Florea, a resident of Queens, New York.

He wrote that it was time to unleash some violence.

In August, Florea pleaded guilty to federal charges. He never went to the Capitol, but his messages sought to contribute to the violence.

The United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York said that the life of a senator would be in danger if the man was sentenced today.

Florea was found guilty of having more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition despite being banned from having it because of a felony conviction.

The New York Times reported that a prosecutor said at a court hearing that Florea had told the FBI he wanted to join the Proud Boys. He used an account with the handle LoneWolfWar to post online threatening messages.

"We need to all come to an agreement and then take back Washington," he wrote.

He wrote, "Tomorrow may very well be the day war kicks off."

According to federal officials, Florea posted that he was going to travel to DC with other armed Trump supporters to join in the violence.

He wrote that he got a bunch of guys all armed and ready to deploy.

The man was taken into custody at his home.
