Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Toys Hold a Sorcerous Surprise

Here is our sorcerous surprise. There are some very interesting possibilities for Multiverse of Madness, thanks to the Target-exclusive Defender Strange. It is possible that this is Doctor Strange in a new outfit, because the outfit is one of the character's other looks. If the What If? animated series taught us anything, it is that the multiverse is blocked by Doctors Strange. I think that the figure has slicked-black hair and a smaller goatee than the other Strange figures, and this is going to be the case.

It is very odd that this figure is called Defender Strange. Doctor Strange was a founding member of the Defenders, along with the Hulk and the Sub-Mariner, and the Silver Surfer. It would be very difficult for the studio to keep the identity of the other two characters a secret, even if they were part of this universe or another. The Defenders brought together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, but it is possible that Charlie Cox could make an appearance in Multi, since he is almost certain to reprise his role of Matt Murdock in No Way Home. He could. To be determined!

Sometimes things slip out, whether it's via the loose lips of the actors involved, or images of merchandise that arrive earlier than planned. The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness figures were a planned reveal, which is wild because they confirm one long-standing rumor, and tease some extremely interesting possibilities of what might happen in the film, which doesn't come out until after the movie. Check them out.

The cross on the character's chest is a reference to the character's most famous costume from the comic. It is usually white or very light blue, and it is almost indistinguishable from the rest of his duds. Two of Strange's extra hands have magic effects attached to them.

Wong gets an upgrade to his outfit, thanks to some nicely sculpted embroidered on his robe. The magic effects on his hands are the same as those on the previous Doctor Strange figure. Wong also has a katana accessory.

Doc is going to be in the Multiverse of Madness. The figure comes with a robe, two hands, and a pendant that looks like a genie's lamp.

America Chavez, a.k.a. Xochitl Gomez, is the first person to look at her. Miss America! If you don't know the character, America comes from another world but has the power to kick star-shaped holes into reality which allow her to traverse the multiverse. She is debuting in Multiverse of Madness because of that. The jacket she is wearing is very accurate. America has a second set of hands.

When we last saw Mordo in Doctor Strange, he was angry with his master and his students for breaking the laws of magic and stripping people of their powers because he felt the world had too many. It is possible that Strange shoots to the top of Mordo in Multiverse of Madness, since he made a huge multiversal mess trying to help Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Mordo has a crossbow, a rod accessory, and six hands.

Who is this green minotaur? When I first saw this action figure, I knew that it was a minor character named Rintrah. The toy confirms that he will be in the sequel. Adam Hugill, who played the character of Constable Carrot in the very loose TV adaption of Terry Pratchett's City Watch novels, is rumored to be playing him. Rintrah was Strange's apprentice for a time in the comics. If you want a green minotaur man, then cough up.

The wave also contains two random characters from the comics. Sleepwalker is a character from the '90s who protects people in their dreams and is one of a group of extra-dimensional beings. He fights various villains after he was trapped in the body of a college student. He has two bonus hands.

The Fear Lord, who is also known as D'Spayre, is a demon who was once knocked unconscious by Spider-Man, so he is not much of a threat. Does he have more hands? You bet.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will premiere on May 22, 2022. You can pre-order the figures at Target.
