Emma Hayes: Chelsea boss says players 'sick' with worry about Covid before Wolfsburg defeat

Seven months after losing the final of the competition to Barcelona, the Women's European Championship ended for the Blues.

The 4-0 defeat by Wolfsburg which ended their Women's European campaign was a major factor in the worry and anxiety of the Covid-19 cases in the squad.

Drew and Ann-Katrin were left out of the final game after testing positive.

The players are concerned about having another Christmas affected by an outbreak.

"Our heads were all over the place, we are human beings," he said.

There will be positive cases when players are tested again, after we land tomorrow, we had two players stuck down with Covid.

You can see that it spreads quickly in the team. I'm gutted for the players because we know that was not a team that represents my team.

The club crashed out of the league.

The situation has been really difficult to manage, and she takes responsibility for the defeat by Wolfsburg, when a point would have seen her side win the group and advance.

She was unable to leave England to spend time with her family because of the Pandemic last year. There were 20 cases of Covid last year.

The players are in London for the Christmas break again because of an outbreak at the club.

"I have players who are sick and exhausted and maybe that mental anxiety plays a part in it," said the coach of the team that lost to Barcelona in last season's European Championship.

I feel like this is the same situation we were in a year ago, after a really bad Covid outbreak.

The growing number of voices in English football called for a postponement of games because of Covid-19.

She wants her players to go and see their families.

At the moment, it's across the game. It's a big reason behind the performance tonight.

"You are a player and you don't want to go to the dining room, you don't want to sit with your team-mates and you don't want to go in the dressing room." It's a team sport, you have to be together, but you don't want to pass it on to someone, and you don't want to get it off anyone.

It's sombre, it's quiet. It feels like you are waiting for something to happen. It's difficult to switch from performing to going and doing it.

The pressure on some of the players' heads made the boss not recognize them.

She said that they could separate the anxiety from the performance.

I have never seen a performance like that from my team.
