NFL Tightens Covid Protocols But Allows Players To Return Faster To Play After Testing Negative

The National Football League announced on Thursday that it is increasing its protocols to prevent the spread of coronaviruses while speeding up the process for players who have recovered from Covid-19 to return to the game.

The league is requiring players and staff to wear a mask indoors at club facilities regardless of vaccination status, limiting the number of players in a training room to 15, prohibiting players and staff from eating together and banning outside visitors when the team is travelling.

Players and coaches will not be allowed to attend charity events, attend concerts, sporting events and gatherings with more than 15 people, and visit nightclubs and bars.

If a player who has been tested positive for the virus is free of the virus and has low levels of it, they will be able to be released from the quark immediately.

The new protocols will last until the end of the games.

The protocol change was prompted by the recent spike in coronaviruses cases in the league and concerns over the omicron variant.
