The Urban Meyer era in Jacksonville ended less than a year after it began, when the head coach was fired after 13 games, according to a report by Adam Schefter.

For the fifth time in the last 10 years, the Jaguars need a new head coach.

Jacksonville has only had one winning season since 2008, but the job has appeal. Despite the lack of talent surrounding him and the chaotic coaching situation, the team recently secured a generational quarterback prospect inTrevor Lawrence, a promising rookies who has improved despite the lack of talent surrounding him.

By firing Meyer before the end of the 2021 season, the Jags have given themselves the advantage of getting a head start on finding their next coach.

There are many qualified candidates for the job.

If Jacksonville wants to emulate the success of a franchise that won six titles since the turn of the millennium, the team should consider New England's Josh McDaniels.

Over the course of 13 years with the organization, he has called plays for New England's offense. He's won three titles in the past 10 years, orchestrating some of the most high-powered offenses in the league.

He's spent over a decade proving he's ready for another shot, despite his one previous attempt at head coaching, which ended in failure.

TheJaguars should take note of how thePatriots found success with a new quarterback. The most productive of the five first-round rookies drafted this year is the New England quarterback.

Lawrence would benefit from the fact that the coach has had the chance to learn how to run a franchise from Bill Belichick over the last three years.

It's not clear if the Jags would be interested in hiring the New England coach if he were to take the job in Jacksonville, but they would be foolish not to try.

Eric Bieniemy has been considered one of the top head coaching candidates in the business for the past few years.

The team's recent success can be attributed to the offensive coordinator. Despite not calling plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, he's become a right-hand man for head coach Andy Reid and makes an impact.

Since Bienemy's leadership and input into the offense, the Chiefs have become one of the league's top teams, winning 47 regular-season games, two AFC titles and a Super Bowl.

Bienemy was asked to interview for head coaching vacancies because of Kansas City's achievements. He met with every team that was open before heading back to Kansas City.

According to Adam Teicher of ESPN, Reid was disappointed that Bienemy was passed over.

I'm glad I have him, but I'm not so happy with him. I was hoping that he would be able to take one of these jobs. You know what I think of him. I think he's great. He would be great for any team that opened up and helped them win football games and also develop men into men. I think he's a great person.

The Jags passed Bienemy up to go with Meyer, even though they met with him.

The decision was the wrong one. The same mistake may be made again by the Jags.

After Meyer failed during his first head coaching stint, the Jaguars could go with an established candidate.

There's no better option than Doug Pederson.

He is a Super Bowl-winning head coach, having lifted the Lombardi Trophy following the 2017 season.

The Eagles succeeded despite losing their starting quarterback in the middle of the season. The head coach maximized the abilities of backup quarterback Nick Foles, who went 10-3, including the playoffs, under Pederson's guidance, but has gone just 2-9 as a starter since.

Although Pederson's five-year tenure in Philadelphia ended on a sour note, the coach had winning seasons in all but his first and last year with the club.

The Eagles won the Super Bowl because of Pederson's offensive creativity. It could make him the ideal candidate to take over a Jacksonville offense that is currently ranked in the bottom three in yards and scoring.

The team could interview Pederson right away, as the free-agent coach took the 2021 season off after being fired in January.

Despite ending his playing career less than a decade ago, former quarterback Kellen Moore has become one of the best offensive coordinators in football.

After six years as a backup and practice-squad member for the Lions and Cowboys, Moore found a post-retirement role as Dallas' quarterbacks coach. He was promoted to the position of offensive coordinator a year later.

The Cowboys scored 27.1 points per game, more than any other team in the league, and led the league in total offense with a whopping 431.5 yards per game.
Moore has done his best work with the Cowboys. The team is second in both total offense and scoring, but behind the defending champion.

Despite losing their starting quarterback after just five starts, the Dallas Cowboys still managed to stay within the league average.

Moore's offenses have reached their peak by remaining balanced.

The Cowboys are 15th in the league in throwing on 59 percent of their plays. The team has the fourth and sixth best passing and rushing offenses.

Moore might be the right man to put it all together with the Jags boasting a quality QB in Lawrence, one of the league's most promising young running backs in James Robinson and some up-and-coming wideouts.

One of the franchise's former starting quarterbacks could be their next head coach.

One of the top offensive coordinators early in his coaching career is the quarterback who was a first-round pick and ran Jacksonville's offense.

The 41-year-old has already captured a Super Bowl title in his current role and is poised to help the Bucs defend their championship after an incredible start to the 2021 campaign.

Bruce Arians hired Leftwich as an intern on his staff when he was the head coach of the Buccaneers.

While Leftwich rose to interim offensive coach in Arizona, the former quarterback didn't find great success until he and the head coach were back in the same place.

The hiring of Leftwich as the offensive coordinator has paid off in a big way.

The team has been near the top of the league in both total offense and scoring in each of the three seasons.

The offense has not missed a beat since winning the title last year, with an average of 410.2 yards and 31.5 points per game.

Leftwich's resume is already on par with some of the best offensive coordinators the NFL has to offer, even though he doesn't have years of experience like some of the other potential head coaching candidates.
