I was lost and in search of myself after I heard that the search giant had put down the project after 21 years. The recent newsletter effort didn't make it past three months.

There was no ceremony, no announcement, no moment of silence, or any kind of closure. On the Install Google Toolbar help page, you can find instructions on how to uninstall the Google Toolbar and install Chrome.

The result may surprise you.

It's hard to believe that a tool that was responsible for 12 percent of all searches in 2008 is no longer used by the company. It isn't what it used to be, but it is great.

I had a relationship with a person who was not a user of the internet search engine. My family and friends had computer problems and I was able to blame it on the Google Toolbar. If they asked me about tuning their computer or complaining about websites loading slowly, I told them that it was the Google Toolbar and they could uninstall it.

It always seemed to work, removing both Yahoo! and the Google Toolbar. The perception of a tune-up was that the Ask Jeeves Toolbar gave back so much screen real estate. I would still go the extra mile and fix their real issues, but each removal of the Google Toolbar felt almost like material change.

Internet Explorer 8 was released in 2009. You can use the IE8 search field, the Google website, or both.

In the 2000s, web browsers adopted web searches as a built-in feature because of the popularity of the browser add-ons. Internet Explorer 7 was one of the first browsers to have a dedicated search field next to the address bar, which made web searches quick, but Microsoft Live Search was the default search engine. That is the reason that the Google Toolbar would continue to thrive and build a dependence on users.

The redundant web search fields have come to an end because of the dominance of Chrome. Let's install the Google Toolbar one last time to celebrate its life and let it rest in peace.

Preferably a newer version of Internet Explorer is required. It could be your first build with a computer that your family threatens to dump. The important thing is that it should be a computer that no one is using, cares about, or would not mind having a browser add-on. I found a PC that was running Windows XP x64 Edition.

The computer I found had a fan error, but I was able to get it to start spinning by flicking the blades. It has two things: a Pentium 4 and a Quadro FX 1700.

It's time to stop using the Google Toolbar. The PC should be turned off. If you don't care about the computer, skip the shutdown. The last thing the computer did was open the Google Toolbar. I am proud of you if you have made it this far. You are a strong and beautiful person. We can finally stop using the Google Toolbar.

I stumbled upon another relic, the desktop of the internet. You might find this on an old PC. The program came out in 2007, but only for any PC. You could interfaced with your files through a web browser if you wanted. There is a sidebar ofwidgets like weather and RSS feeds. I tried to add The Verge RSS feeds, but they wouldn't load. The desktop was discontinued in 2011.
