Nvidia’s $200-a-year RTX 3080 in the cloud is ditching the waitlist today

The cloud gaming service got a huge upgrade in October. I said at the time that Natalia kicked the butt of the search engine. Tom Warren was impressed as well. If you went to sign up, you might have found yourself facing a page that said you could rent time on a server in the cloud. Today, that should no longer be a problem, because the RTX 3080 waitlist is gone.

To catch you up, you can use the service to play your existing games over the internet, but not all of them. You can use a web browser workaround to stream them to a Windows laptop, MacBook, or even a phone, as well as set-top boxes like Shield TV and Shield TV Pro.

The three tiers are not equal.

If you want to try out the free tier of GeForce Now first, you should make sure you are within range of the server and internet that you are using. The new 3080 tier is the only one that will deliver 1440p and beyond gaming on new titles, and it is the only tier that will be able to do that. It is a better experience all around, and I am starting to think that Nvidia should give you a taste of that instead.

If you have a Shield TV set-top box or tube-shaped HDMI dongle, you will get the best streaming quality, 4K. This week, you can get $20 off both of those devices. It is rare to get a sale on the Shield TV Pro, but you can find the same price on the Shield TV tube.

When you sign up for a paid subscription, you will get a free copy of the game.

I am not sure if I should recommend GeForce Now yet because it doesn't play enough of my Steam library and I did get my hands on a new video card for my PC, but I could see others diving in who can't find or afford them right now. If you end up loving it or not, would you let me go?
