TikTok is testing a new piece of desktop streaming software called TikTok Live Studio that lets users broadcast live footage from games and other desktop applications. The official page on TikTok's site appears to have been taken down as of publication, despite the fact that the software is currently being tested with a small number of users across some Western markets.

TikTok Live Studio could be an interesting change for the live streaming strategy. TikTok Live could expand its focus to include game streaming, which would bring it into competition with the likes of YouTube and Facebook.

The software is currently in a barebones state according to the man who shared the pictures on the social networking site. It can draw footage from games, individual programs, mobile devices, and cameras, and supports streaming in both landscape and portrait.

It was previously possible to live stream from a desktop device to TikTok using third-party software, but a help page for the feature notes that access is limited and invite-only. There are also third-party services that can be used to connect TikTok with streaming programs. TikTok streaming is currently disabled for most users, according to a help page.

It is not clear when TikTok will expand its Live Studio test to more users. If desktop streaming becomes widely available, it could bring a lot more variety to the live content on the platform.
