Eli Ricks is transferring to Alabama.

In his freshman year, Ricks was an AP third-team All-American. He earned a spot on the conference all-freshman team.

Ricks only played six games this season because of a shoulder injury. He played in two seasons at LSU and finished with 31 tackles and five intercepts.

According to Hank South, Ricks chose the Alabama over Georgia and USC. He is a former 5-star prospect out of Rancho Cucamonga, California, and said he had previous communication with Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

Ricks told Greg Biggins that he talked to coach Saban almost every day when he was at IMG. I was locked in with LSU at the time and he is a great coach.

Ricks has a friendship with Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

He told Biggins that he talked to him yesterday about how he liked it. The program has a great track record of getting defensive backs drafted. I know it's competitive there, but I'm going to be ready to compete wherever I go.

Adding Ricks is a huge boost for the incoming class. Alabama signed a pair of 4-star defensive backs during the early signing period.
