A lawsuit was settled by the Chicago Blackhawks and a former player who said he was sexually assault by an assistant coach during the team's 2010 Stanley Cup title run.

Representatives for the Hawks and Kyle Beach met with a mediator for the first time on Wednesday and announced that a confidential settlement had been reached.

The team said in a statement that they hope the resolution will bring some measure of peace andclosure to Beach.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensure that the team will be a beacon for professionalism, respect and integrity in our community. We are grateful for the trust and support of the community, and we promise to continue working to earn and maintain that.

Loggans is a part of a second lawsuit that was filed by a former high school student who accused the assistant coach of assault. There was no mention of that suit in the joint statement.

The Blackhawks said that Beach's allegations did not have merit. An independent review commissioned by the team showed that the organization mishandled Beach's allegations that he was attacked by Aldrich during the team's 2010 Stanley Cup run. The encounter was consensual, according to Aldrich.

The situation stretched to other teams, including Florida, where the coach of the Hawks resigned, after top executives lost their jobs in Chicago. Chicago was fined $2 million by the NHL.

In early November, Loggans and attorneys for the Hawks held a meeting. She said that each side had different opinions.

An investigation commissioned by the team found no evidence that Danny or Rocky knew about the allegations before the lawsuit was filed. In October, Danny said he had instructed team attorneys to seek a fair resolution.
