Cole was in the intensive care unit for several days after the assault.

A Texas teenager was lured outside and beaten by his peers.

Cole thought he had been in an accident when he asked about his friends after he regained consciousness.

Three teens are out on a $20,000 bond after being charged with assault.

A Texas teen was hospitalized after he was brutally beaten by his classmates in what his family called a "bizarre" and "heinous act." The classmates said the attack was sparked by inappropriate behavior.

Cole was at a pool party in Lake Jackson, Texas on December 3 when a few of his peers from Brazoswood High School told him that his truck had been hit.

According to witness statements given to police, Mitchell had planned the attack for several days and was the one who attacked Hagan.

According to the affidavit, the student accused of being involved in the attack told police that he witnessed the attack and that he elbowed the other student in the face.

Mitchell called one of the friends and said "come get your boy." According to the affidavit, two of his friends found him bleeding from his ears.

Mitchell is out on a $20,000 bond after he was charged with assault. Two people accused of swindling a man out of a pool party have been charged with assault. Police documents show that at least eight other students were aware of the planned attack.

According to the Lake Jackson Police Department, the identity of all those involved has been established and other charges are pending. The department could not provide more details due to the active investigation.

Cole wanted to play college football, according to his family.

He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston after he was attacked. With multiple brain bleeds and skull fractures, as well as a broken collarbone, he was placed on a ventilator.

When he regained consciousness, he thought he had been in an accident and asked his friends if they were okay. His brother said that he would do anything for his friends.

"That's who he is, and that's why it made this thing so heinous," the brother said. The weakest link was chosen. The person they had to lure outside to fight was not a kid and was going to fight you in the yard if you called him out.

Holland is the only suspect who has retained a lawyer, according to the Justice of the Peace's office. Mitchell's parents didn't reply to Insider's questions.

"I've cried a lot over the last week," the brother said. I'm focused on him getting better. I want to hold these people accountable.

He said he is offering a reward for the video of the assault and that he believes there is a video of it. The reward has gone up as more and more people offer to help make it more lucrative.

If nothing was videoed, I would be surprised, but if it was videoed, I think the only people that could get in trouble are the ones that aired it.

The Lake Jackson Police Department arrested four people in connection with the assault on Cole Hagan.

A build-up of animosity.

Mitchell said in his statement to police that he had a build-up of animosity between himself and the Hagans due to their perceived behavior to some of their female acquaintances.

He went and did it again with Mitchell's girlfriend after he was caught with a friend's girlfriend. According to Mitchell's police statement, he received photos of his girlfriend at the party. He told him that he hadn't learned yet because he had done it many times. Mitchell told police that he hit him multiple times when he threw him to the ground.

After making their initial statements to the police, Holland and Huber returned to the police department to make a new statement.

Holland said Mitchell was upset because he had been texting with Mitchell's girlfriend. According to the affidavit, Holland mentioned that a girl claimed that Hak had sexually assault her. Holland's lawyer didn't reply to Insider's request for comment.

In his second interview, he claimed that Mitchell's girlfriend and his behavior went as far as sexual assault on an unknown person. There was no evidence provided in the affidavit. Lake Jackson police could not say if they were investigating the claims.

The suspects are being charged with trying to pass the buck and avoid accountability, and they are not repulsive, but more importantly, they are false.

"You're making up lies about a good kid who was taken off guard and brutally attacked," the brother said. I can assure you that my brother did not do that. It's not a surprise that Mitchell is still against the law to do what he did.

Cole is the most passive guy you'll ever meet, even with girls.

The claims made against Hagan were discussed by his brother's friends.

One of his friends said it was consensual. They liked each other. "They were talking to each other on the app." A boy is dating a girl, they break up, the girl finds someone else, and the guy gets mad.

"High school boys and young men feel like they own these girls that they date even when they break up," his brother said. They think they can tell them who they can take a picture with, who they can stand with, and who their next boyfriend can be.

The school told parents in a letter that the student who committed the attack would not be on campus.

We expect our students, staff and community to support the victim and family. Students will be charged to the fullest extent of the law if they retaliate or threaten, according to a statement obtained by ABC 13.

We haven't received an apology from the parents or the young adults that were involved in it. "There's not been a single ounce of remorse," his brother said.

Cole is with his family.

There is an uncertain recovery and a derailed future.

His brother said that he will probably never play football again after high school.

After a week in the intensive care unit, he was moved to a rehabilitation center where his speech and mobility have continued to improve. His family is unsure if he will make a full recovery.

The last thing you need is to strap on a helmet and hit someone else's head on a piece of furniture, said his brother. It's heartbreaking that he's going to have to protect his head. That was his number one passion.

While he is grateful for the progress made in the investigation of his brother's attack, he and his family's primary focus is to help him recover.

He said that the Lake Jackson Police Department had made three arrests. We expect more arrests to be made. We're grateful that things are moving in the right direction. We're grateful for the progress he's made, even though we're upset about the attack on our family member.

Over the past week, I've cried so much that it's like... I'm focused on him getting better.
