With Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts' availability for Sunday's game against the Washington Football Team in question, he and Gardner Minshew are splitting first-team reps to start the week.
Hurts, who missed the New York Giants game with an ankle injury, is moving upwards. However, he was unsure if he would be available to play.
"I don't know what's going to happen, just like I didn't know what was going to happen last week," said Sirianni, explaining why he divvied up the snaps between Hurts and Minshew. Hurts was listed as a limited participant on the injury report. If one guy can't play, you want to make sure you're covered. That's it.
The New York Jets were Philadelphia's opponent in Week 13. Minshew played well in his place, going 20-of-25 for 242 yards with a pair of touchdown and a 33-18 win.
The Eagles had a bye week. When asked if Hurts would be available when they resumed play, Sirianni said, "I would think so."
The two quarterbacks split mental reps during Wednesday's practice, the same way they did last week. Minshew got the start after taking the bulk of the reps during practice.
According to the NFL Network, a high ankle injury can take up to four weeks to heal. He was listed as limited on the practice report.
"It's been a day by day thing," Hurts said. I'm here every day to make myself available for my team. That's still my mindset, that's been my mindset for a long time. Trying to be available for the team.
Hurts has started 12 games for the Eagles. He's completed 60.1% of his passes for 2,435 yards with 13 touchdown to eight interception while adding 695 yards and eight scores on the ground.
Both teams are competing for the final wild-card spot and the game against Washington is crucial.
