The drama that has engulfed the franchise needs to stop if theJaguars are going to turn things around and start winning games. The most important person on the team is quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

You're always going to have some form of drama. Lawrence said Wednesday that he has learned that the NFL is more drama than college. You're correct. There has been a lot. I think that needs to change and we need to work on that for sure.

You can't always be in the news. I have no doubt that we'll get there, but it has to change.

The drama intensified last weekend after an NFL Network report that receiver Marvin Jones Jr. yelled at Meyer and left the facility. Meyer denied the report after the 20-0 loss at Tennessee, but that is not the only example of the drama since the season started.

In the days after the team's loss in Cincinnati, Meyer was caught on video at his restaurant in Columbus, Ohio touching a woman that wasn't his wife. There is tension between Meyer and his assistant coaches, Meyer has not realized which players are on the field at certain times, and James Robinson was benched for 19 and 20 plays in consecutive weeks after a pair of turnovers.

The director of sports performance at Iowa, who resigned in the wake of allegations that he made racist comments and bullied Black players, was one of the things that happened before the season.

The fact that the offense has been terrible since the bye week adds to the drama.

Lawrence said last week that Robinson needs to be on the field as much as possible because he's one of their best players.

Lawrence said it's just part of his growth as a leader.

"Obviously there's been a lot of drama," he said as the team prepared for the game against Houston. I think it's important for me to be honest because there's been a lot of drama and I don't know what caused it. You can't say everything that's on your mind. You have to be careful with your filters.

I have a lot of respect for the guys that have been working to get this right and it has been difficult. I have a lot of respect for the players, for the coaches, for everybody. You can't always say what you want to say, but the truth is always with me, so that's what I try to do.

Jones downplayed the incident between him and Meyer that he said happened 212 weeks ago after he grew upset with Meyer's criticism of the receivers, specifically that they struggle to win one-on-one battles.

Jones said that he didn't like something that was brought to his attention. We handled it like grown men after I approached him. I have nothing else to say about that.

... You will always be the center of attention when you lose. That is what it is.
