Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Wednesday that the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses will allow you to send and receive Facebook Messenger messages from your face. He says that the features being rolled out are just the beginning for the product.
You will be able to use the built-in mics, speakers, and assistant to send messages, have messages read out to you, and make audio calls using Facebook Messenger. There will be more updates in 2022.
It feels like Black Widow or Iron Man when you use your glasses to send messages.
Adding the ability to use the Stories as a communication device makes them more useful. The main selling point of the glasses is that they put a camera on your face, but when they first launched they weren't much more than that. There weren't many smart features beyond the assistant taking videos and pictures, and the glasses acting as wireless headphones.
If you use your Stories as headphones, the update will make some improvements, including the ability to control volume with your voice, and track your music with your voice. Say "hey Facebook, pause" is going to get more attention than just tapping your glasses on the right arm.
