Apple temporarily closes three stores in response to rising covid rates

Three Apple stores were temporarily closed on Wednesday due to Covid cases.

The Apple store in Miami is closed through Thursday, as are the stores in Ontario and Maryland.

Concerns about the impact of the Omicron variant on the holiday shopping season have been raised by public health authorities.

An Apple representative said in a statement that they monitor conditions and will adjust their health measures to support the wellbeing of customers and employees. We are committed to a comprehensive approach for our teams that combines regular testing with daily health checks, employee and customer masking, deep cleaning and paid sick leave.

Apple said that store employees will take Covid-19 tests before reopening, so it's possible that these stores will not re-open as scheduled. Apple has provided weekly at- home tests to its retail employees.

Apple will require face masks for customers at all of its stores.

Apple has adjusted individual store policies in response to regional conditions, including an emphasis on customer pickup via online purchases instead of in-store shopping and increasing the amount of space to social distance.

Apple closed all of its stores in 2020. Stores re-opened earlier this year. Last week, an Apple store in Texas was closed because of coronaviruses.

California, where Apple is based, has imposed a month-long indoor mask mandate.
