After a loss in Abu Dhabi that dashed his hopes of earning a record eighth title, Lewis Hamilton was knighted.

The Prince of Wales made Sir Lewis Hamilton a Knight Bachelor in a ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement that Hamilton was honored for his services to the sport.
