Oops, NASA Delays James Webb Telescope Launch Due to Technical Glitch

The scientists were right to be nervous.

The launch of the James Webb Space Telescope was delayed after engineers discovered a communications glitch between the observatory and the launch vehicle system. Thomas Zurbuchen, associate admin for NASA, told Spaceflight Now that it was likely a ground support issue.
Zurbuchen told the website that it is a ground support equipment thing. Data cables are dropping out of the picture.

The agency will announce the official launch date no later than this Friday, which could mean a Christmas Eve or Christmas Day launch.

Failure to communicate.

The cost of the mission is almost $10 billion, and it has taken more than two decades to get to this point. It will give the world the clearest and furthest views into space ever. The launch has a few people nervous and eager for updates.
NASA has drawn some criticism due to a lack of communication regarding the launch of the telescope.
William Harwood, space reporter for CBS News, said in a statement that if a flight deserved more frequent updates, it would be JWST.
The space editor for Aviation Week said that 1000 percent agreed. NASA should be setting the standard for transparency and honesty in communications.

We will have to wait until NASA announces a new launch date. Everyone is on edge about the ambitious mission. Hopefully, we will get the gift of a brand spankin' new space observatory safe in space for Christmas.
NASA has delayed the launch of the telescope to December 24.
