Michigan State adds Oxford High School shooting victim Tate Myre as honorary member of college football recruiting class

On the first day of the early signing period, Michigan State coach Mel Tucker announced Tate Myre, one of the victims of the Oxford High School shooting, as an "Honorary member of the Spartans' recruiting class".

Myre was a football player at Oxford High School and one of the four students who were shot and killed.

Tucker says that Myre had a passion to play for Michigan State. Myre was recognized for his heroism by the coach.

We would like to have Tate Myre join our class as an "Honorary Spartan Dawg".

Tucker said in the video that Tate Myre had an "unmatched work ethic, athletic and love for his teammates." He wanted to play for Michigan State. The passion and unstoppable drive made it possible to get there. Everyone who knew Tate was elevated by his consistency on and off the football field.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of Hana St. We will support the Oxford community in any way we can.

Myre was on a recruiting visit to Toledo. The University of Michigan wore patches with Myre's number at the Big Ten championship game.

The University of Michigan women's basketball team wore patches with the initials of St. Juliana on their jerseys in a recent game.
