Nine new high-resolution screen savers were added to Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K with the release of tvOS 15.2 earlier this week.
Traveling along the coast of the Isle of Skye.
You may not see them immediately if you change your Apple TV settings to daily, weekly, or monthly. You will be happy to know that you can get them on your Mac if you like them.
You can view the same high-quality Apple TV screen savers on your Mac with Aerial, a free and open source app created by developer John Coates and maintained by Guillaume Louel.
The screen savers from Apple's server are periodically accessed by the app, so that you can choose your favorite videos. It's not possible to choose a specific screensaver on Apple TV, but you can on your Mac.
There are more options for Aerial, including the ability to adapt the videos that are played to the time of day, as well as the ability to filter video themes.
The easiest way to get the aerial companion on your mac is to download it, drag the app to your Applications folder, and then follow the quick setup process.
You can either be notified if updates happen in the background or not. You can decide if you want an icon in the menu bar to notify you or not.
Joshua Michaels and Hal Bergman donated 20 screen savers to be used in Community Videos. You can always buy coffee for the developers if you like the aerial app.
