S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is a video game that uses NFTs. The game will allow players to spend coins to get unique items and to play as a non-playable character.
The news comes a week after the announcement of the NFT integration by the company. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 raises more questions than it answers.
The new features are part of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Metaverse program. The project is the first AAA game with a unique meta experience, according to the CEO of GSC Game World. The feature will allow the community to own a piece of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Metaverse will begin auctioning off drops in January. There will be another secret drop in February. It is not clear what players will be buying. They can get unique items that won't affect the game, or give players an advantage. They can be traded before the game launches.
The items will be able to travel across platforms. They will be usable in at least one other game from GSC Game World. The marketplace is working with other publishers to make purchased items more usable in games.
Droppings will give players a chance to become an in-game character. Those who buy a spot will have their likeness scanned into the game. All players will see that NPC. Only one metahuman spot will be available in the January drop. There will be limited space and players will be able to trade their right to become a metahuman before the game launches.
DMarket is tight-lipped about pricing. Additional auction details will be revealed with the bid info. D Market and GSC Game World will donate a portion of their profits to charity.
The sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will be released on April 28, 2022, for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
