Sergio Aguero: Barcelona's former Man City striker retires

After joining the club from Manchester City in the summer,Sergio Aguero only made two starts.

Within six months of joining Barcelona,Sergio Aguero will retire from football.

Since moving to Spain, Aguero has had injuries and health problems that have limited his appearances for the Catalan side.

He was taken to the hospital on October 30th after experiencing chest pains.

He finishes his career with over 400 goals.

The man went from being the worst trainer in the world to Man City's icon.

His statistics are incredible.

The fourth-highest scoring player in the history of the premier league is Aguero, who has 184 goals in 275 games. He has nine more goals than Henry and is the league's highest- scoring overseas player.
The best rate in the competition's history was achieved by Aguero, who scored every time he was on the field. He would have the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any top-flight player with more than 20 goals if he played another 2,520 minutes without scoring.
The Argentine scored 18 hat-tricks in his career, including 12 in the premier league
During his time at Manchester City, he scored 30 or more goals in five separate occasions.
In the history of the competition, the highest total a player has scored for an English side is 36 goals by Aguero for Manchester City.
He found the net against 128 different opponents, including the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.
Between his first career goal in November 2004 for Independiente and his final strike for Barcelona, there were 16 years and 332 days between them.

A legend of the league.

There can be no doubt about the fact that despite his brief spell at Barcelona, there can be no doubt about his status as one of the best strikers of the 21st Century.

He scored 101 goals in 234 appearances after moving to Atlante Madrid, where he won the Europa League in 2010.

That record attracted the attention of Manchester City, who paid a reported £38m to bring him to their stadium.

He went on to become a club and premier league legend in England, winning five premier league titles, one FA cup and six League cups.

In 395 games, he scored 260 goals, including 16 hat-tricks, and left City to join the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Argentine is responsible for the most famous moment in the history of the English top flight, scoring with virtually the last kick of the season to seal a victory over Queens Park Rangers that earned Manchester City a first top-flight title since 1968 and denied fierce rivals Manchester United by virtue of goal difference

It was a sad end with Barcelona.

After it became clear that he would be allowed to leave Manchester City, a move to Barcelona was an attractive one for him.

He won over the City boss, who initially had concerns about the forward's ability to fit into his style of play, but injuries limited his playing time during his final season.

The switch to Barcelona went badly from the beginning. The club's financial problems made it difficult to register their new signings.

The same issues led to the departure of Messi.

He was out until October because of a calf injury.

He made his first start for the club three days after scoring a 90th-minute consolation in his only El Clasico appearance against Real Madrid.

After withdrawing from the Alaves game in October, he said on social media that he would follow doctors' advice and make a decision about his playing future.

He said he would take 90 days to assess his progress, with reports suggesting he had been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.

His decision has come earlier than expected.

His final contribution for Argentina was a substitute appearance in the quarter-finals of the summer's Copa America, as La Albiceleste won the trophy for the first time in 28 years.

There is unfinished business in Argentina.

Tim Vickery is a football expert.

There were still some things to do that were not on the list. He wanted to finish his career at Independiente, where it all started.

It was always a dream of his to one day play in the house he built for the club, and when Independiente sold him to Atleti Madrid, they rebuilt the stadium on the proceeds.

It seems like you should scratch that one. There are a couple of little holes in a great career, and that is why Argentina is in another World Cup. The other is a great tournament. He did win the Copa America in the middle of the year, but he wasn't on the field in the knockout stages, and he didn't score.

Although he scored 42 goals for Argentina, and only two men have scored more - Gabriel Batistuta and Lionel Messi - he never really had a great tournament, and often he was dragging his tired carcass around the field.

The last World Cup in Russia, where Argentina were an absolute shambles, was the best tournament that he played.

It would have been great for him to have one last chance at the World Cup in a year's time, as they are now the best team they have been since he started playing.

It is not a moment of choosing, but what a legacy he has left and what a great player he was.
