Adam Sandler’s production company is inexplicably making a movie about Sean Payton, starring Kevin James

Who was asking for a Sean Payton biopic?

Nobody? stood.

That is not what this movie is. The movie Home Team is a comedy about the yearlong Bountygate suspension from the NFL in 2012 that he spent part of being the offensive coach for his son's sixth grade football team. I wonder if the audio from former Saints defensive coach Gregg Williams, in which he encourages the defense to hit the head of the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs, will be included in the film. The writer's room for this movie should be given an immediate bonus.

Kevin James will play a character in a movie that is expected to be funny. James tells the actor playing the son of a coach that his teammates are terrible without noticing some of the teammates to his left, a kid ordering pizza during practice, and Rob Schneider gives the team food poisoning with an experimental energy bar. Spike Lee was with Malcolm X, but Home Team won't be as beholden to the exact details of the real story.

During his 2012 suspension, he took a coaching position on his son's team in a suburban Dallas league, printed up a play book for them, and they went on to beat most of their competition so badly that the score was turned off. Even with some notes from Bill Parcells, the kids couldn't overcome the team that finished second after a championship loss. I am curious as to if the movie will end with a loss like in Coach Carter or if the staff will give the movie more of an Angels in the Outfield ending.

The trailer seems to show a picture of a person who was the leader of a team that circumvented the salary cap by giving compensation to players to hurt their opponents. The trailer begins with James at his desk, as he is told by his assistant that Roger Goodell is on the phone, but she fails at pronouncing his name and has no idea who he is.

Happy Madison, if the Home Team doesn't minimize brain injury, then hey, go for it. Let's see the side of the man that isn't demanding gum or trying to convince the competition committee to change the pass interference rule for one season after being on the losing end of the worst referee mistake in football history.
