Apple Reinstates Mask Requirement At U.S. Stores Amid Covid Surge

The new date is Dec 14, 2021.

Apple will be the first major retailer in the US to require customers to wear masks.

One month after it dropped the requirement, Apple decided to put it back.

During the holiday shopping season, the company will monitor and manage store capacity at some of its locations.

California, New York, Oregon, New Mexico, Washington, Illinois, Nevada and Hawaii require people to wear masks in public.

In May, most retailers dropped indoor mask requirements for fully-vaccinated customers. When the delta variant began to spread, some retailers like Apple began requiring employees and customers to wear masks indoors. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people wear masks in high-transmission areas. Walmart, Target and Sam's Club said they would require employees to wear masks at work and encourage customers to do the same.
There is a structure called the Tangent.

California and New York have indoor mask requirements that were put in place last week after a surge of Covid-19 cases. In New York, the 7-day average of cases per 100,000 people has risen from 32 at the end of November to 59 over the last two weeks.
New York is one of 6 states that require masks for indoor use.

Target, Walmart, and other businesses are requiring employees to wear masks.
