Elon Musk Says SpaceX Is Going to Start Sucking CO2 Out of the Air and Turning It Into Rocket Fuel

The company is going to make rocket fuel out of thin air.

The CEO of SpaceX said on Monday that the company was starting a program to take CO2 out of the atmosphere. If you are interested, please join.

Musk said that the process of generating fuel using in-situ resources could have great implications for our transition to becoming interplanetary.

Will be important for Mars.

The Carbon Appetit.

It is a pertinent topic for the operations of the company, given that it emits a lot of CO2 when it launches.

It is not quite as far fetched as it sounds. Using a new technique called "direct air capture", the company could suck in thousands of tons of carbon dioxide to turn it into fuel.

The world's largest DAC plant is currently being operated by Iceland, which takes up to 4,400 tons of CO2 a year.

The $100 million prize was announced by Musk earlier this year. The goal is to pull 1,000 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere annually.

Musk said back in April that it would take a while to figure out what the right solution was. To figure out what the best economics are for CO2 removal.

Musk said at the time that they had only one planet. Why run that risk if you have a 0.1 percent chance of disaster? That is crazy!

Scientists have built the world's biggest carbon capture machine.
