Air Canada Aeroplan has an emphasis on adding partners, which is one of my favorite things. Aeroplan has more airline partners than any other program. Several partners have been added in recent months, including Virgin Australia, Air Serbia, and Eurowings Discover.
Aeroplan announced its newest airline partner a couple of weeks ago, and I am very excited about it. As of today, the partnership between Air Canada Aeroplan and Oman Air is live.
I adore the airline, but it can be difficult to redeem points given the lack of partners. The Aeroplan partnership is great news for the future of the airline.
Aeroplan members have access to award tickets with no carrier imposed surcharges, as well as stopovers for just 5,000 extra points one-way, thanks to the new Aeroplan program that was launched in late 2020. There is a lot to see and do in Oman.

Aeroplan members can earn and redeem points through a new partnership between Air Canada and Oman Air. I wanted to talk about the opportunities this affords, and also talk about the airline that is not well known.
What is the name of the airline?
A fleet of nearly 50 aircraft are operated by the airline, including the A330s and the 797s. This is definitely more of a boutique airline, and doesn't compete on the global scale that other airlines do. As far away as the UK and the Philippines are from the airline.
The airline has first class on select Boeing 787-9s, as well as a business class product that includes the Apex Suites.

Aeroplan points can be redeemed on Oman Air.

If you were flying from Europe or the Middle East to Southeast Asia, Aeroplan has an award chart for travel between the Atlantic region and Pacific region.

There are over 100,000 Aeroplan points in business class or over 100,000 points in first class from London to Muscat.
80,000 Aeroplan points in business class or 100,000 Aeroplan points in first class can be found from London to Muscat to Bangkok.
You could redeem an extra 5,000 points to have a stop in the sultanate. This is a better option than any other. Aeroplan members have access to first class award seats at Oman Air. First class awards are blocked with the partnership between the two airlines.
At first glance, it appears that the airline gives out one first class seat per flight. I will do some research to see if a second seat may show up after you book the first one.
If you have transferrable points, Air Canada Aeroplan is a great program to book through. The new Aeroplan Credit Card was recently launched in the United States.

Air Canada Aeroplan is the best way to book a flight if you have points. Aeroplan keeps adding new airline partners, which is something that other programs don't seem to be pursuing in the same way. It will be a great chance to visit Hyatt's two Alila properties in the country.
