The United States became the first country to surpass 50 million confirmed cases of coronaviruses on Tuesday, despite concerns over the recently discovered omicron strain.

The number of coronaviruses infections in the U.S. since the beginning of the Pandemic has reached 50 million.
Over the past two weeks, more than 100,000 U.S. cases have been identified, as the delta variant continues to make up the majority of infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
New Hampshire is reporting more new cases per capita than any other state, but infections are increasing in 41 of 50 states according to a New York Times analysis.
Connecticut has seen a 185% increase in infections over the past two weeks, followed by Maine, Mississippi, Delaware and Rhode Island.
In Alaska, Guam, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and Colorado, cases are falling.
The rate of infections has been steadily increasing since late October, but are still far below the peak of the US outbreak in January.
