The Lexus UX 300e electric car will be affected by the work disruptions.

Toyota will extend production halts at some factories in Japan as it continues to feel the impact of supply chain issues.

The components factories in South East Asia have faced disruptions due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Land cruiser and Lexus production will be affected by the delays.

In December, the company said that it lost production of about 14,000 vehicles.

Toyota said in an email to the BBC that the stoppages were due to a lower attendance rate at suppliers in South East Asia due to the re-spread of Covid-19.

"We would like to maintain 9 million units, but we will keep a close eye on the situation," the company said.

Toyota's rivals have had to scale back production because they couldn't get enough semiconductors.

Car makers have also been affected by the Pandemic, as well as one of the industry's biggest suppliers of computer chips, which suffered a major fire in Japan. Renesas warned in March that it could have a big impact on its ability to fulfill orders.

The global supply chain crisis hitting Japan's motor industry is having an impact on the country's economy as a whole.

In the year to October, Japan's exports rose by 9.4%, breaking a seven month streak of double-digit expansion.

It was the slowest growth in eight months.

The shipments of cars were hit particularly hard, down by almost 37% from the same time in 2020.

The data from the Ministry of Finance shows that car exports to China and the US dropped by almost half.
