A Texas auto magnate has been indicted on charges that he paid a former Israeli soldier and two ex-Marines to kill a former mistress and her boyfriend.
Police and prosecutors said that Eric Charles Maund, whose family runs Volkswagen and Toyota dealerships in and around Austin, hired the trio to rub out Holly Williams and William Lanway.
The indictment says Lanway threatened to expose the relationship between Williams and Maund.
The four people have been charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping resulting in death, and carrying, brandishing, and discharging a firearm during a violent crime.
They could face life in prison if convicted.
A manager for the family's Volkswagen dealership in Austin did not reply to a request for comment.
The chief of police in Nashville, Tennessee, where the victims were based, said that the investigation began after the discovery of two bodies inside a vehicle.
