Capitol Rioter Who Used Fire Extinguisher On Cops Says He Realizes 'Tyrannical' Trump Lied

The man who attacked the police officers with a fire extinguisher told a judge that he now realized that the former president and those acting on his behalf were lying.

Robert Scott Palmer, a Florida man who sprayed officers with a fire extinguisher and then threw the fire extinguisher at the police line when the officers were under siege from the mob, was arrested and charged in March. He pleaded guilty in October and federal prosecutors are seeking a sentence of more than five years behind bars, which would be the longest yet in connection with the Capitol riot.

A former public defender who has sentenced defendants to more time than federal prosecutors have requested will sentence Palmer on Friday. In a letter to Chutkan, Palmer wrote that he realized he was lied to by Trump and his supporters.

Palmer claimed that he had come to realize that Trump supporters were lied to by those who had great power at the time, as well as those acting on his behalf.

Palmer wrote that they kept spitting out a false narrative about a stolen election and how it was our duty to stand up to tyranny. They were the ones who were desperate to hold on to power at any cost even though they knew the chaos they would create would happen. Palmer apologized for believing in Trump's lies.

Danny Rodriguez, the Trump supporter who drove a stun gun into the neck of a police officer, said many of the same things. After being arrested by the FBI, Rodriguez called himself a "fuck piece of shit" for attacking Fanone and "so stupid" for believing he and other Trump supporters would take over the U.S. Capitol and ensure Trump remained president.

We thought we were going to save the country and it was going to be fine after, but are we really that stupid? We thought that. That is so stupid. Rodriguez spoke to the FBI.

Even so, it would still be surprising from Palmer, whose Facebook page showed how invested he was in Trump and his lies. His page was cluttered with posts that spread false information about Biden's election, denigrating the Black Lives Matter movement and downplaying the need for COVID-19 safety protocols.

Bill O'Reilly argued that Trump wasn't responsible for inciting the Capitol attack because he wasn't the one who did it. He continued to post about the election.

In the event of a Civil War, he is not afraid of the 81 million Biden Voters. Half are dead and the other half are not.

The prosecutors noted in their memo that Palmer seemed to have a different tone two months ago after he was sentenced. He had a friend call him "Patriot Rob" and claim that he only went on the defense after he was hit by a less lethal projectile fired by police. Prosecutors say that Palmer was shot with a less-lethal round after he threw a pole at officers.

The website was removed and the donations were returned after the defense attorney conceded that Palmer had lied about his defense.

A number of Palmer's friends and family members wrote letters on his behalf, and his lawyer is seeking a sentence of 24 months behind bars.

The FBI has made 700 arrests in connection with the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
