Jan. 6 Committee Recommends Holding Mark Meadows In Criminal Contempt

The House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot recommended holding MarkMeadows, former chief of staff to President Donald Trump, in contempt and referred him to the Department of Justice for possible charges.

The committee voted to recommend contempt.

The full House of Representatives will vote on the recommendation as early as Tuesday.

The DOJ could indict him for contempt of Congress if the House votes to hold him in contempt.

The committee recommended that Steve Bannon and Jeffrey Clark be held in contempt for not complying with subpoenas. The grand jury indicted Bannon on two counts of contempt. His trial will be on July 18.
