The seat for New York Giants head coach Joe Judge may not be all that hot despite a 4-9 start to the football season.
If the Giants moved on from Dave Gettleman, Judge's status would not change, according to SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
Vacchiano spoke to a source who said John Mara loves Judge and believes he can be his Bill Parcells.
The Giants are in danger of missing the playoffs for the fifth year in a row. Judge pointed to where he thought the organization was headed.
He told reporters after Sunday's loss that he is encouraged by a lot of things he sees week after week with his players. It is difficult to see that outside. The key pieces have been put in place. There are a lot of things that are moving in the right direction.

It's not easy. It's not fantasy football, you don't pick players in the draft, you don't sign players in free agency, and you don't say 'everything is solved'.

Joe Judge gave a lengthy answer about why he thinks the Giants are headed in the right direction.
Pat Shurmur was fired after his second season at the helm, while Ben McAdoo didn't make it through two full years. It is understandable that ownership is reluctant to part with Judge.
The Giants' selection of Daniel Jones with the 6th pick in the draft was not Judge's fault.
New York would probably not mind a redo of the Saquon Barkley pick if he's healthy.
This season is not an outlier in the Big Apple. The Giants haven't won more than six games in a season since their last playoff appearance. The head coaches have left Gettleman as the common denominator.

Since Dave Gettleman became their general manager, the Giants have lost more games than any other team.

Critics of Judge can question what he's doing to make the team better because the results aren't readily apparent.
Mara might feel that the 39-year-old deserves at least one more season with a new GM at the helm.
