Art For The Home

Choosing art for my home has been a slow process. And it's something I don't want to rush anyway. Part of me would love to be able to cross a room off of my list titled "rooms that are not finished" but more than that I want to find art that I really love and anticipate loving for years to come.

I've read on some home decor blogs that cheap art is a big "no-no" for homes. I can certainly see why they say that, but fine art can be extremely expensive. And honestly, I think some of the artwork you can find at chain stores has improved greatly over the years.

I've found great pieces at Home Goods and World Market, as well as beautiful mirrors from Target. I found a few really fun prints at Society 6 earlier this summer and hung those up right away.

I've had great success with framed art from Minted in the past but ran into two back to back broken frames on a recent order. Given my otherwise perfect experience with them, I'm assuming it's an issue with the particular frame. I still love the artwork in it and plan to get it reframed soon.

While I was browsing, I stumbled across a really cool idea from Pottery Barn. They sell a few prints together as a "gallery in a box" which makes the challenging job of creating a fresh and unique gallery wall almost too easy.

I've put off buying art until we landed on final paint colors for a few of the rooms in the house, and now that that is complete I'm deep in the trenches of choosing artwork for some of the rooms on the first floor. The gallery above is filled with a few of my personal favorites, but I don't know which ones I'm going to actually pull the trigger on!
