The Boston Celtics might be getting Dennis Schroder soon.
According to Shams Charania of The Stadium and Athletic, "Rival teams expect the Celtics to be open to talks around guard Dennis Schroder, who inked a one-year deal with Boston in the offseason but has had a strong season that likely prices him out of a potential re-
The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly turned down a four-year, $80 million extension for Schroder, who is now playing for the Celtics.
He's playing well, and he's averaging 17.5 points and 4.9 assists per game while shooting 44.5% from the field and 34.2% from three.
The Celtics won't be able to afford him if he gets a lot of offers after the 2020-21 season. They have contracts on the books for next year.
$30.3 millon was paid to Jayson Tatum.
Jaylen Brown has a net worth of $28.7 million.
Al Horford has a guaranteed amount of $26.5 million.
Marcus Smart has a fortune of $16.6 million.
Josh Richardson has a net worth of $12.1 million.
Robert Williams III has a fortune of $10.7 million.
They will have a hefty salary tax if they exceed the active roster cap of $149.2 million.
Unless they were able to get themselves off of some of those contracts, there's no way they'd be able to afford a contract like that.
The person is Keith Smith.

It would make sense to deal Schroder now. It would make less sense from a competitive standpoint.
The question is if the Celtics see themselves as a contender. They are far off from being among the NBA's elite, based on the 13-14 start to the season. It's pretty clear that the Celtics aren't in the same league as teams like the Brooklyn Nets or Milwaukee Bucks, even though a playoff spot is within reach.
