Alabama Crimson Tide's Bryce Young, Will Anderson Jr., Jameson Williams lead AP All-America first team

12:12 PM

The top-ranked Alabama team has more players on the first team than any other school, thanks to the selection of two players, Will Anderson Jr. and Jameson Williams, as All-Americans by The Associated Press.

The AP All-America team presented by Regions Bank was selected by a panel of Top 25 college football poll voters.

Young became the first Tide quarterback to win the award. Anderson, who leads the nation in sacks, was fifth in the voting.

Alabama will face Cincinnati in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

The five players who received AP All-American honors will be in the playoff game. Jordan Battle was a third-team selection and Evan Neal was a second-team selection.

Cornerback Ahmad Gardner of Cincinnati was a second-team All-American last season. Bryant made the second team.

Four more first-team All-Americans will be in the Michigan-Georgia game on New Year's Eve.

The All-Americans for the UM are the defensive end and kicker. Georgia's top-ranked defense is represented by defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

The second team included David Ojabo, while the third team included Hassan Haskins.

Georgia matched Alabama with five players. Two players made the second team and one made the third team.

The second and third-team quarterbacks were both from Ohio State.

Iowa State running back Breece Hall is the only player to repeat as a first-team AP All-American.

The Iowa center and Texas A&M guard were both first-team selections this season.

Kentucky tackle Darian Kinnard and Oregon edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux went from third-team to first-team in 2020.

The All-America structure has not changed since 2006 and this year the AP added two players, one on each side of the ball. The offenses now feature three receivers and the defenses have an extra defensive back to reflect a game that features more passing than ever before.

Ohio State became the first school to have three wideouts earn All-America honors in the same season, with more receiver spots to fill. The second and third teams had Chris and Garrett Wilson on it.

Williams, an Ohio State transfer, and four receiver who played for the Buckeyes in 2020 made the AP All-America teams.

Seven players were placed on the three teams by the Buckeyes. The three receivers and Stroud were joined by the offensive linemen and defensive lineman, who made the second team.
