We are constantly trying to understand ourselves and this is a universal experience. I am currently in a state of questioning my sense of self. MaryV was working on her latest project while she was thinking about this.
MaryV and 12 other lens-based artists were tasked with exploring the idea of "For All You Are", a prompt referencing why we started the Creator Labs program: We want to give artists the tools to tell their own stories.
Creator Labs artists were able to use Real Tone on the new device, which is a multi-year mission to make best-in-class smartphones cameras that photograph skin more equitably. As part of this initiative, the team at the Pixel made a suite of improvements and changes to how their camera and imagery products work to highlight the nuances of different skin tones beautifully and authentically.

One theme we saw multiple artists focus on wasancestry, both from the perspective of honoring traditions andRedefining what constitutes family. The resilience of the Black diaspora and the importance of telling stories are showcased in Anthony PrinceLeslie's piece "Spyda." East New York, Brooklyn was the childhood home of Texas Isaiah. He didn't spend time with his extended family as a first-generation family. His family had collected many items over the years, including native Canadian and South American photographs, souvenirs, and other materials.

In his piece, Loftin challenged the traditional family structures by documenting and honoring his family in New York City. This is an extension of a larger work called "In The Life" which focuses on Black Queer life.
