Apple Releases macOS Monterey 12.1 With SharePlay

The first major update to the macOS Monterey update was released by Apple today.

You can get more videos on the MacRumors YouTube channel.

The Software Update section of System Preferences can be used to download the macOS Monterey update. Those still running the macOS Big sur can get the new update.

SharePlay is a missing feature in the Mac. Mac owners can use SharePlay to watch TV, listen to music, and play games with friends and family.

Content is sync for all people who are part of the call when using SharePlay. You can use Apple Music to listen to music, watch shows and movies with your friends and family, and even work out with Apple Fitness+, all while sharing your screen with friends and family.

Third-party apps can use FaceTime for shared games and other experiences, even though SharePlay was designed to work with Apple TV and Apple Music.

The $4.99 Apple Music Voice Plan is supported in the new version of macOS Monterey, as well as Communication Safety for children in the Messages app. The Memories feature in Photos has been updated to bring it in line with the newer version of the operating system, and the Digital Legacy feature has been added as well.

Digital Legacy allows you to give someone access to your account when you die. Hide My Email support, a Store tab in the TV app, and bug fixes for the trackpad, and notch display issues are some of the new features that Apple has added. The full release notes for the update can be found here.

SharePlay is an entirely new way to have shared experiences with family and friends. This update also includes the Apple Music Voice Plan, new safety features for children and parents in Messages, and other features and bug fixes for your Mac.
