The fourth different team at No. 1 in the past four weeks was taken advantage of by the Bears. The Bears received every vote from a national media panel on Monday to get the top spot in the poll for the first time since Feb. 17, 2020.

Scott Drew said that the goal is at the end of the year, but that it always means something. It means something to you. It means a lot to everyone. It's a great sign of respect for other people who have done the work before you.

Akinjo said that people think you're going to go into a rebuilding phase when you lose guys like that. Our coaches did a great job of putting this team together, not just with the talent, but in ways that we would mesh.

The Tide climbed three spots after beating the then-No. 1 team. There were 14 people in Houston on Saturday. They were followed by Kansas, Arizona, and Southern California.

"If we haven't lost, I can't be too upset, but there are always things to clean up and get better at," said the coach. We're not there yet, but our goal is to be an elite defensive team. I'm happy with the team. We're happy to be 10-0.

Iowa State moved up six spots to 11 after beating Iowa and avoiding a letdown against Jacksonville State. They were followed by Michigan State, auburn, Houston, and Ohio State, with Texas, Tennessee, LSU, and Connecticut rounding out the top 20.

Kentucky, Colorado State, Arkansas, and Texas Tech were included in the poll.

Falling and rising.

The Spartans climbed seven spots to 12 after their wins over Minnesota and Penn State.

The Longhorns fell 10 spots. Kentucky lost to Notre Dame on Saturday and fell to 21st.

Colorado State entered the poll at No. 2 after running their record to 10-0 for the second time in program history. The Red Raiders moved into the top 25 after their overtime win.

Mississippi State has a plan to go to the NCAA tournament and contend in the SEC. Colorado State's coach said after the win over the Bulldogs that they have similar visions. We knew we had to win some of the games. Guys have been able to step up.

Wisconsin was outside the Top 25 receiving votes this week after losing to Ohio State. The University of Florida dropped out after losing to Maryland and then-winless Texas Southern.
