Western Australia reopens to international visitors in February

On February 5, 2022, Western Australia will reopen its borders.

The announcement of a new package by the government of the state ofWA was made earlier this month.

The fund will help the aviation industry to reestablish international and interstate services that were disrupted by the Pandemic.

UK agents and operators will benefit from additional marketing investment, which will help them to learn about new developments and secure bookings.

When the borders reopen on February 5, the following groups will be able to enter: double-vaccinated immediate family members of adult Australian citizens and permanent residents, and double-vaccinated working holidaymakers.

Visitors will be required to return a negative test result within 72 hours before departure and within 48 hours of arrival toWA.

The interim testing arrangements will be reviewed.

The Australian government recently announced plans to allow skilled migrants, international students, and working visa holders to enter from December 1, before suspending the move to December 15 because of the emergence of the Omicron variant.

Brendan McClements, the chief executive of Visit Victoria, said last week that there is a political desire to reopen and a commercial rationale to help address workforce shortages.

He said that the Victorian, New South Wales and federal governments were all in agreement over the reopening.

The Australian reopening delay will be short-lived according to the Visit Victoria chief.
