She thanked lawyer and CNN commentator Van Jones and her mentors, attorneys Jessica Jackson and Erin Hane, for helping her pass the exam.

The lawyer-in-training failed the exam again in June, after weeks of study days, according to Kim Kardashian West.

She said that her late father Robert would have been the best study partner because he was known to tease people who failed the exam on their first try.

The California First- Year Law Students' Examination is known as the "Baby Bar" and is required for any first-year law student in California not attending a law school accredited by the American Bar Association or California's Committee of Bar Examiners. In order to continue her studies, she had to pass an apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco, which she did after opting to forgo the traditional juris doctor degree program.
When she visited the White House in 2020 to discuss criminal justice reform, she was inspired to become a lawyer after lobbying for clemency for Alice Marie Johnson, who served nearly 20 years in prison for a drug conviction. If I knew more, I could do more to fix the system.
