Fuck It, Replace the Cereal in Your Rice Krispie Treats With Potato Chips

I was a big fan of Rice Krispies treats. The texture of marshmallows. The crunch of food. I wanted it all the time. I had parents who wouldn't let them in the house.

I have grown beyond my love for Rice Krispies. I prefer sweets with a little more oomph to them, whether that means a little salt, a little spice, or some extra flavor.

The Kitchn's food writer, Patty Catalano, recently reported that there is a new way to make Rice Krispies treats that can elevate the treat you loved as a child into the kind of treat you demand as an adult.

A reader commented on a thread about crowd-pleasing recipes on the Cup of Jo. I would like to thank this reader for his service to humanity. The salty crunch of the chips is enough to send you into sensory overload, as the combination of the sweet marshmallows and salty crunch creates a treat that is damn near capable of sending you into sensory overload. It is everything I have ever wanted, in the shape of a childhood treat. I will never be the same again.

Potato chip Krispies treats are made.

To make these potato chip krispies treats, you need six cups of butter, six cups of wavy potato chips, and one 16-ounce bag of marshmallows. Nine of the lil single-serving bags that come in the family pack from Costco are leftover after everyone else has claimed all the good flavors.

Catalano suggests adding salt to the chips or using salted butter. I used salted butter. She suggests you try a half-and-half mixture of chips and rice cereals if you fear straight chips might be too much. When it comes to dessert, I don't go for half-measures.

Put the chips in the bowl and crush them. You can make a smooth, gooey sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan on the stove. Put it on the stove and pour over the chips. If you want the chips to have more texture, use a studier chip instead of the other way around.

Once the chips have been covered with an even coating of goo, transfer to a pan and shape them until they are flat. You can cut them into bars if you allow them to set.

Take your potato chip Krispies to the next level.

If you make this basic recipe, you can change it to include other cereals, use the chips at the bottom of the bag to make a single serving, or even make an ice cream cone out of them.

I like to mix in dark chocolate chips with our chocolate potato chip cookies. You could put a layer of dark chocolate on the entire pan. Being a grown-ass adult is great because you can eat whatever you want whenever you want. Sorry to mom and dad.
